The Challenge
For years, Arcadia Credit Union managed IT entirely in-house primarily through a single individual. As CEO, Michele Roesler personally handled IT support, cybersecurity, compliance, system updates, and troubleshooting on top of her executive responsibilities. While this approach worked in earlier years, growth and increasing complexity made it unsustainable.
Manual processes added to the strain. Core system updates required visiting every computer individually and taking systems offline, consuming significant time and creating operational risk. Without a centralized network or server environment, even routine updates and maintenance were labor-intensive.
At the same time, cybersecurity and regulatory demands were accelerating. New tools, monitoring requirements, and exam expectations exceeded what could reasonably be managed internally. While leadership understood the importance of stronger security and compliance controls, maintaining them alone was no longer feasible nor scalable for the future.
“The increasing cybersecurity requirements were beyond my expertise. It just got to be too much for me alone,” said Roesler.

The Solution
In 2018, Arcadia Credit Union partnered with Locknet to transition from a fully in-house IT model to comprehensive managed IT services. The decision was driven by Locknet’s deep expertise, clear communication, and understanding of the unique needs of small and mid-sized financial institutions.
